Powell Doctrine

[edit]

Hi I deleted this line that you wrote "This is the opposite of the Powell Doctrine of overwhelming force" so I wanted to explain why.

As I see it, the Just War tradition deals with morals and the Powell Doctrine deals with strategy. When the just war tradition talks about proportionality it is talking about morale consequences. The Powell Doctrine doctrine says you should not attack unless you are able to commit to the attack overwhleming force. They are looking at war in such different ways that they can't be rivals. If I'm wrong please explain to me. Dejvid 23:50, 9 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've just looked at your edit on the Powell Doctrine page and what you wrote there is totaly logical and (to the extent my opinion is worth anything on that theme) it seems to me you are 100% correct.Dejvid 23:57, 9 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
