Convert list to prose

[edit]

His record looks too much like a cereal list. it should probably be converted to paragraph form. --ZeWrestler Talk 15:27, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Season on the mat bookcover.jpg

[edit]

Image:Season on the mat bookcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lead needs a rewrite

[edit]

I fail to see the relevance of Gable's sole loss his senior year in the NCAA finals. Not to downplay any of his accomplishments, though, as he's obviously more notable through his dominance in the 1972 Olympics as well as his record as head coach at Iowa and afterwards as an "ambassador" to wrestling in the U.S. I'm just wondering if that small part is really relevant in the article's lead. --MuZemike 07:13, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody should also explain how such a good athlete managed to avoid military service during the biggest war of his lifetime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.20.187 (talk) 03:50, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Given his Age...

[edit]

Given his age and when he was in college, how did such a good athlete not serve in the military? This is a glaring omission because Vietnam was the biggest war of his lifetime and the draft took milions of young men (including me) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.27.38 (talk) 16:45, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Donald Trump

[edit]

He is publicly supporting Donald Trump. Why isn't that important since his name is notable?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:e7c1:de00:e1ba:4773:793e:2e35 (talk)

This page doesn't get edited that much. Do you have a source for this? Also, did any secondary sources care enough to write about it? Someguy1221 (talk) 08:41, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

medal ceremony

[edit]

Is it worth mentioning the way Trump just walked out of the room rather than talk to the press at the medal ceremony? It's weird, and notable, but is it germane to this article or does it belong somewhere else? Beeblebrox (talk) 03:20, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would first be interested why Gable got this extremely high honour in the first place. Nothing in the article indicates any influence on society, apart from an impressive sports career that took place decades ago. What did he do to deserve it, or rather: what did he do in the last couple of years to be regognized by Donald Trump who usually gave awards to sycophants and radical broadcasters? --Anvilaquarius (talk) 08:43, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
