Jacob Stephens
[edit]Is a real member. I will find references when i get my inet back. I am at school. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nomorebutterflys (talk • contribs) 17:10, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have no idea who you're talking about. No one by that name is listed on any of the band's releases, and a Google search of Guttermouth + Jacob Stephens returns no decent results. If you plan to add his name to the article, please post your reference here first so we can discuss it. --IllaZilla 00:11, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Early lineup
[edit]There have been a number of disruptive edits to the article lately by at least 1 person claiming to have "been there" or to have been editing on behalf of Mark Adkins. I'm going to go ahead and address a few things here:
- You shouldn't remove information from the article that is referenced without discussing it here first. Pretty much everything in the article concerning the early history of the band is referenced from James Nunn's liner notes in Live From the Pharmacy. Since he was in the band, I'd call it a pretty reliable source.
- I'll admit that the references used are not clear about who exactly was in the earliest couple of Guttermouth lineups. If you have more information about that, then please bring it up here. As much as we would like those parts to be more accurate, we can only use information that comes from reliable (and citable) sources.
- As to the specific claim that Adkins "never played bass in Republic," here's verbatim from Nunn's liner notes: "Mark's first band was called Republic. Mark actually played, or tried to play bass guitar."
Feel free to raise your concerns here so that they can be discussed with other editors. --IllaZilla 03:32, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- That is the problem. The material is from Jamies liner notes. Jamie was not hanging around yet when Republic was playing in the earlyest days. I was witness to many Republic shows (good stuff). It is a fact that Mark has never played bass while in Republic. The bass player was Phil Van Valkenburg. If you have doubts about this, just ask Mark at the next show. I don't know why Jamie would say that Mark played bass. In case you are interested, the original line up for Republic was, Scott Sheldon (guitar), Shannon Peck (Guitar), Phil Van Valkenburg (bass), Mike Brindese (drums) and Mark Adkins (vocals). As far as the original Guttermouth line up, it was, Eric Davis (guitar), Mark Adkins (vocals), Tim Baulch (drums), Paul "Fang" I forgot his last name, and Barry Burnham (guitar). These references are clear, if you want to test this, just ask Mark at the next Guttermouth show. As far as the violence and drug use mentioned, it is slanderous hearsay and vague. Mark has asked me to remove it because it has hindered the band recently. If you have any doubts, just ask him at the next show. I apologize for coming off as a dick by mentioning the lame cliche "I was there". The thing is, I was there. I just wanted to report the true history of this period so people like yourself, who seem to be true fans of the band, can know the entire history. Salute. --65.165.164.11 (talk) 04:42, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- OK, here's what I did: I took out the mention of Mark having played bass in Republic. Since this article is about Guttermouth, not Republic, it really doesn't need those kind of details anyway. It's only really important in establishing that he was in a band with Scott prior to Guttermouth. I also changed the original Guttermouth lineup and added Paul and Barry into it. Finally, I took out/reworded some of the bits about the drugs and such, since really all that those paragraphs are trying to establish is that Guttermouth had a reputation for chaos and outrageous behavior. No need to get specific about what kind of behavior, and the reference still supports the way the paragraphs are worded. Thanks for bringing up your concerns here, I appreciate that you're trying to help the article be more accurate. So am I, as a fan of the band and also someone who's trying to write good articles. I'm taking you at your word about the original lineup, since I don't have any third-party sources to go to for that information. But I doubt anyone is going to challenge it. The only problem now seems to be that the infobox in the article is broken, but I couldn't fix it. Hopefully it's just a bug and will work itself out. Thanks for the help. --IllaZilla 06:07, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Clint Weinrich or Kevin Clark?
[edit]Their myspace page lists only kevin clark as a bassist, and yet this wikipedia page is persisten in listing clint weinrich as bassist, although my understanding is that he was only the session bassist for the album shave the planet. some clarification on the matter? Gpmuscillo (talk) 22:32, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think it's very clear. The band isn't exactly on-the-ball with keeping their website/myspace up to date (apparently they even lost all the old news posts from the website). For example, as you added earlier, they recently replaced 2 members but only gave an explanation as to why 1 of the guys left. No word on why the other 2 left or how they chose the replacements. Shave the Planet lists Weinrich with the other usual members (Adkins, Sheldon, Horne, & Farrell), then adds "and Kevin Clark & Jim Susoeff & David V." This makes it seem like the last 3 were additional studio musicians, but it doesn't actually list what they played so it's not really clear. Their biography on Allmusic makes it seem like Weinrich is the current bassist, so that's the source I used. I didn't even know their myspace listed Clark as the bassist, so now I'm confused. I haven't seen them play in a long time so I don't know who's been onstage with them lately. Other than the myspace, do you have some source that Weinrich was just the session bassist for Shave the Planet? I'd really like to clear that up. --IllaZilla (talk) 01:10, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
- its kevin who plays live, but that creates the question of whether kevin is a touring member or a permanent one. what i'd do is wait until their next album is recorded, and if its ken clark then we can pretty much assume that clint was only a one-off session member, and if clint plays then we can assume that clint is a studio member and kevin is a live member. ----Gpmuscillo (talk) 13:41, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- EDIT: i actually found a source in which mark actually says that the band has two bassists and that kevin and clint basically both fill in for each other when the other is not available. --Gpmuscillo (talk) 12:51, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Good work. I'm going to make a tweak here & there. We currently have Kevin listed as both "current" and "past". If they're trading off, they should just both be "current". --IllaZilla (talk) 17:33, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Warped "Controversy"
[edit]The phrasing on this section is a little misleading because it makes it sound like Mark was against the PunkVoter cause, when the linked interview clearly states he was supportive of their effort, and more antagonistic of the "fashion" bands (he is speaking about My Chemical Romance specifically here): "But even more amusing is that not one of these so called punk or whatever you call them these days, style of bands had the balls to confront myself or any other members of our group. They ran to daddy and told some of the brass that Guttermouth is making fun of us while they play. Well they were right, I was, but only the fashion bands and groups who focused more on their make up and choo choo train hats than the music they play. Yes I am guilty of tearing bands I don't care for a brand new squeaky clean asshole, but at least I'll tell them to their face. (Or at least while they are standing on the stage next to me ha, ha) Sure I know I'm insensitive and not very nice sometimes, but if I see something I don't like I will speak my mind. I always have and always will. I am also in something called a punk band. Punk and censorship do not exactly go hand in hand." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.171.91 (talk • contribs) 04:02, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Guttermouth discography
[edit]Split - Discography section is very long when compared to the remainder of the article and should therefore be split into a new article called Guttermouth discography. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:29, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
Should pages for Guttermouth discography and Uproar Festival 2010 (along with other years) be created?
[edit]Should pages for Guttermouth discography, Uproar Festival 2010, Uproar Festival 2011, Uproar Festival 2012, Uproar Festival 2013 be created? --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:56, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
- In regards to the different years of the uproar festival, I would say no. Handle it like Ozzfest. There is a page for the festival itself, and then a page that is Ozzfest lineups by year Centerone (talk) 11:42, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Reply - What do you think about splitting off Guttermouth discography? I am having trouble getting feedback despite posting to several forums. --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:33, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Regarding the discography, just be bold and do it. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:21, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
