Does it actually make sense to break down physical geography by artificial political borders? I think the comment about geography by state is valid, I'm also working on one for the U.S. Still, I am following the guidelines set up in the Wikipedia:WikiProject_U.S._States and the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Countries - sfmontyo

The old encyclopedia info doesn't jive with the divisions that the state gives http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/areas/natareas/natural.htm also there was study done on Dialect and Heritage areas in Missouri done in the 1920's-1930's. It broke the State down into about 10 areas depending on the dialect (There are about 5 different dialects of English spoken in the state) or cultural heritage. A map of those the divisons can be found here Vernacular Architecture in Rural and Small Town Missouri (The Map is what you want to look at although the Vernacular Architecture article is very intersting. I think the WPA Guide is Public Domain but I'm not sure. Mississippi below Ste. Gen. =

The article says, "The Mississippi is skirted with lagoons, lakes and morasses from Ste. Genevieve to the Arkansas border, and in places is confined by levees.". Is that accurate? It sounds like it might be taken from the 1911 Britannica, and much has changed in this area since then. --Kbh3^rdtalk 18:00, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Physiographic regions

The text and the map is not consistent in terminology and content. The text says there are has three distinct physiographic divisions in Missouri; the map shows five physiographic provinces.

• Dissected till plain = Osage Plain and Dissected Till Plains?
• Ozark highlands = Ozark Plateau?
• Western plain = ?
• Coastal plain = ?
• Till plain = Mississippi Alluvial Plain?
