Brevet promotion
[edit]I removed the statement This was the first brevet promotion the Unites States awarded. This needs a citation as there are instances of officers being breveted in the revolutionary war. older≠wiser 03:04, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)
Indiana assessment
[edit]- This article needs in line citations to improve its class rating. Also the Introduction paragraph needs to be worked on. It doesn't explain the article well. -Jahnx (talk) 09:47, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- I removed the "no sources" box at the top, but this article still only has two main sources and a couple minor ones. We could use more sources for the bibliography, if anyone here has some. Mingusboodle (talk) 05:23, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Attacks at the Narrows
[edit]I've added a subsection called "Attacks at the Narrows", which deal with the attacks on the supply wagons sent to relieve Fort Harrison. If someone thinks that should be a separate article, feel free to created it. I almost did the same thing, but finally decided to add it here, since the supplies were sent to relieve the starving survivors (and reinforcements) of the Battle of Fort Harrison, and since the attacks meant that those supplies would not reach Fort Harrison.
I also tagged the Lamotte Prairie massacre at the end, since it was executed by the same band that carried out the attacks at the Narrows. I realize this has less to do with Fort Harrison, but since there wasn't enough to justify a new article on the Lamotte massacre and it was the same war party, I put it here.Mingusboodle (talk) 04:11, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Just a thought... is it better to combine all the casualties from the siege of Fort Harrison and the attacks on the supply wagons in the top infobox, or would it be better to have a separate infobox for the attacks at the Narrows? I don't think I've ever seen an article with two infoboxes, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be done.Mingusboodle (talk) 05:25, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Restructure article
[edit]We have an article on a battle at this fort, but no article on the fort itself? The history and significance of the fort exceeds the one battle, though I'll concede that this fort had a very short lifetime, 1811-1818. Maybe the only event of note (i.e. described in the encyclopedia anywhere) is that battle. Nonetheless, the structure is kind of awkward. I think the article ought to be the name of the fort, and the battle a section within that article. There could be a section on what preceded the building of the fort, and another for history after the war of 1812, and yet another for what became of the fort and what is left of it today.
