Hello, Foxtrot Romeo India Zulu Echo, Welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope you like working here and want to continue. If you need help on how to name new articles, look at the Guide to layout, and for help on formatting the pages visit the Manual of Style. If you need general help, look at Help and the FAQ, and if you can't find your answer there, check the Village pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and the Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal — and if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my New-Users' Talk Page.

Additional tips:
Here are some extra tips to help you get around Wikipedia:
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills, try the Sandbox.
  • Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
  • You might want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If your first language isn't English, try Wikipedia:Contributing to articles outside your native language
  • Full details on Wikipedia style can be found in the Manual of Style.
Happy editing!

EU Westerly Enlargement Userbox

[edit]

Hey. Thanks for making the EU westerly enlargement userbox. It's pretty spiffy! :D

I made one little modification to it: I added the US flag. Hope you don't mind. (You do know, there are Americans who support the EU too :P).

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Liffey boat.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cohesiontalk 01:05, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, mate, I see that you are interested in Eurovision. Would you like to be involved in connecting with more eurovision wikipedians to do up the eurovision pages in a more coherent manner? I have come across the Eurovision wikiproject page, which seems to have been dormant for over two years. It may be an idea to have a look there and see how we could improve the eurovision coverage. I have done up the Congratulations (Eurovision) page so far and put notes about it on the pages of those who performed there. [edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Charlemontpic1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you.- Shyam (T/C) 20:31, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I wasn't happy with your changes to the para re Muhammad's marriage with Khadijah, but rather than just revert to the old version, I rewrote. I figure that if you wanted to change it, there might have been something not right there. See what you think of the current version. Zora 09:27, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Logos in SVG

[edit]

Hello, I have been removing the {{ShouldBeSVG}} template from several commercial logos. Asking for commercial logos in SVG is excessive. Of course if an official SVG or EPS version is available, it should be used, but to ask people to go replacing corporate logos with user-created SVG ones that still must be under fair use due to trademark restrictions is excessive. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 20:49, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SVG export plugin

Hi Alan,

Do you know if there is a plug-in I could use to export vector graphics to the SVG format that is compatible with Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004?

Eurovision Song Contest

Hi. I have submitted the main Eurovision article for Peer Review, hoping to get it up to Featured standard. If you have any comments and contributions, please let me know. Thanks. EuroSong talk 15:20, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As you know, I created this list recently. As you'll also know, I don't have Sky Digital, so I don't know all the Irish channel numbers (the articles on the channels usually only give the UK Sky numbers and a few are different), since some are different. So I was hoping you could add them to the ones they're missing from. Thanks - Рэдхот 10:00, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. How do you propose you understand the official EU language of Slovak or Polish etc. if someone was so obliged as to write you a message in one of them?

Edit summary problem

[edit]

Do not write "terrible sentence" in an edit summary because while you may have not intended it, this essentially insults the original author. I would suggest something more along the lines of "clarified" or "fixed sentence to make clearer". Thank you. Never Mystic (tc) 20:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Youreastarlogo.JPG

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Youreastarlogo.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:46, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CYAS2group.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:CYAS2group.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I have tagged Image:Hey_KId.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast 07:48, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Foxtrot Romeo India Zulu Echo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 13 article backlog. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
