Yikes! I wasn't aware of the literal translation of Sansei, Issei, and Nisei. Now that I know this, it doesn't make much sense to have these articles named X Japanese, because the literal translation would be either first, second or third generation Japanese -- which is totally wrong! How about naming these articles as X Japanese American? Then the literal translation will make sense. -maveric149
- Well, "Japanese" isn't a Japanese word, but an English word. "Xsei Japanese" etc aren't Japanese phrases, but English phrases, so literal translations I think aren't the issue. However, usage seems to somewhat favor "Xsei Japanese-American" (with or without hyphen) judging by a google search. And, of course, Japanese haven't immigrated solely to the United States -- you'll find Sansei Japanese-Canadians as well, for instance. Better to change the titles, particularly since you're concentrating on American immigrants. Brion VIBBER
